Why I started Eco Skincare

Why I started Eco Skincare

Hi there, I'm Emma, the founder of Eco Skincare, an eco-friendly skincare brand based in the UK. In this blog, I want to share my story of why I started Eco Skincare and my passion for creating sustainable, natural skincare products that are good for both our skin and the environment.

My journey began when I attempted to row 2,400 miles across the Pacific Ocean, through the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. I wanted to raise awareness about plastic pollution and the devastating impact it's having on our oceans. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is the largest accumulation of ocean plastic in the world, with an estimated 1.8 trillion pieces of plastic weighing a total of 80,000 tonnes. The scale of this issue is overwhelming, and I knew that I needed to do something that would make a real difference.

During my journey, I saw first-hand the devastating impact of plastic pollution on marine life and the environment. I was horrified by the sheer amount of plastic that I saw floating in the ocean and washed up on beaches. The experience left me with a fire in my heart to do something that would make a real difference to ocean plastics.

That's how the idea for Eco Skincare was born. I wanted to create a brand that was committed to sustainability and reducing plastic waste. I knew that the beauty industry was one of the biggest contributors to plastic waste, with over 120 billion units of packaging produced every year. I wanted to create a brand that was different, one that was committed to using sustainable, natural ingredients and packaging that wouldn't harm the environment.

At Eco Skincare, we're committed to providing only the highest quality plastic-minimal products, to stop plastic from going into the oceans. We only stock products which meet our high sustainability standards, and we try everything before we stock it so you know you're getting only the most amazing skincare available. We also strive to minimise our environmental impact in every aspect of our business, from our packaging to our shipping.

One of the things that I'm most proud of is our commitment to reducing plastic waste. All of our own-brand products are packaged in glass jars, kraft paper boxes and aluminium bottles, which are recyclable and reusable. We also use eco-friendly shipping materials, such as plant-based biodegradable bags and recyclable boxes. We're proud to be able to reduce the amount of plastic waste that's produced by the beauty industry.

It wasn't easy, but I was determined to create a brand that I could be proud of. I launched Eco Skincare with just a few products, all packaged in glass or aluminium, and free from microbeads and other harmful ingredients.

Since then, Eco Skincare has grown to offer a full range of skincare products, all made with sustainably sourced, natural ingredients and packaged in eco-friendly materials. We've received rave reviews from customers who love our products and our commitment to sustainability.

My experience rowing across the Pacific Ocean taught me that we all have a responsibility to do our part in protecting the environment. At Eco Skincare, we're committed to doing just that. Our mission is to provide people with an alternative to traditional skincare products that are packaged in plastic that's harmful to the environment. Our products are gentle, effective, and good for both our skin and the planet.

Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and we're constantly listening to your feedback and suggestions to improve our products and make them even more sustainable.

I'm incredibly proud of what we've achieved so far at Eco Skincare, and I'm excited to continue to grow and evolve as a brand, but there's still so much work to be done. The plastic pollution crisis isn't going away anytime soon, and we all have a responsibility to do our part.

Thank you for joining me and the growing number of people who helping to protect our planet for future generations.
